So, I've Been Thinking...

See, there I go again. I'm getting distracted by my thoughts. I can't help myself though, it's what makes me human. It's also what makes you human... No, not my thoughts. Yours... Oh, you get the idea.

Anyway, I have been trying out new ways to link together all of my profiles, all of my thoughts, all of my social arenas in one place. I've found a few, I'm not ready to move into any of them just yet. So, I was wondering if you have any one place that you log into where you can check it all and keep tabs on it all without having to open several windows at once. I think this is the new equivalent to trying to be in more than one place at the same time. It doesn't work in reality and it isn't working here. It is driving me and my computer insane. (Don't worry, it was a short trip for both of us.)

Please let me know if you have found a way to connect it all. Who knows, maybe we'll be neighbors soon.

  1. I haven't tried linking stuff. I use Tweetdeck for twitter, though, and I think you can have your facebook updates show up there easily enough, and you can post to both at once.

  2. I think it depends on what you want to have connected.

You can post your blog entries on Facebook so people can read it there.

And as Shari (hi Shari) said, you can link facebook and twitter. But then you have to ask yourself, do you want your facebook friends reading your tweets.

Right now, I have my Twitter feed on my blog and added the blog to my Facebook profile. I'm not sure if I want to always link new entries to facebook.

I don't mind things not being linked together, but then I can understand how separate windows might drive you and the computer nuts. That's why I am loving the split screen feature on Windows 7 - it allows you to see two windows at once.

And shouldn't you be working on your thesis instead of worrying about social media?!

  3. Thank you both for your feedback. I am a get it all together in one spot junkie... I like the suggestions.

And yes, I am working on my thesis. I just worry a lot in my down time. ;)

  4. You, worry? Really?

Turn that worry into art! Remember don't sweat the small stuff, especially when working on the thesis.

  5. I love Tweetdeck. I don't post my Tweets and FB updates at the same time, but I can watch it all and comment accordingly. I have a separate FB page for my blog, and a separate email account for my blog. So I have my personal accounts and my social media accounts. In some ways, it is more to keep track of, but in others, it's so much better organized.

  6. All very good suggestions. I am beginning to think that what I am seeking does not exist and maybe that is for the best. I will check out tweetdeck. If I find a way to keep it all centralized yet separate, I'll let you know. Until then. I'll work on my links and go from there. Thank you for taking the time to share with me.

  7. Interesting post. I think something like this would probably be a good idea. I have email alerts for all my random places, but I still end up with windows for email, facebook, twitter, blog, goodreads, linkedin, etc. Best of luck!
